Research Statement

My education and training are in cell and animal physiology. I have broad experience in animal experimentation, including the surgery of rodent species. During my long-time research in hypothermia and natural hibernation, I studied the effect of low temperatures on animals and animal tissues. In the past twelve years my professional interests are in cancer biology, biomedical imaging, and the development of imaging probes. The main focus of the Biophotonics Imaging Laboratory (BIL) is using the label-free, noninvasive optical systems to investigate structural and metabolic properties at the cellular and tissue level.
